Rob Egan Receives Prestigious CAANZ Fellowship Award

We are proud to announce that our managing director, Rob Egan, has been awarded the esteemed CAANZ Fellowship Award. This prestigious honour recognises Rob's outstanding career achievements and his significant contributions to the business community, the accounting profession, and society as a whole.

The CAANZ Fellowship Award is one of the highest recognitions within the Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ) organization. It is bestowed upon members who have demonstrated exceptional professional success and have made noteworthy contributions through their work and community involvement. Nominations for this award are submitted by peers and undergo rigorous consideration by both the local Regional Council and the CAANZ Council.

Tinashe Kamangira FCA, President of CA ANZ, extended her congratulations to all Fellowship recipients, stating, "This honour is a testament to their outstanding career achievements and noteworthy contributions across various facets, whether within CAANZ, the community, business, or academia. Their dedication to giving back, excellence, resilience in the face of challenges, and unwavering hard work have truly set them apart."

Rob’s journey to receiving this award began earlier this year when Karin Copestake, Chartered Accountant at RealCA, undertook the task of gathering letters of support from staff, business colleagues, and clients. Reflecting on the experience, Karin said, "It was really wonderful to read the generous and kind words that everyone had to say about Rob. The process was both humbling and inspiring."

The CAANZ Fellowship is open to full members of the organization, including CAs, ACAs, and ATs, who meet stringent criteria. These criteria include outstanding achievements in the accounting profession, significant contributions to the profession through service to CA ANZ or other related organizations, and impactful work in teaching, research, or community service.

On Thursday, August 15, 2024, Rob Egan received his award during a special ceremony hosted by CAANZ Bay of Plenty at the Sebel Trinity Wharf. In his acceptance speech, Rob reflected on his 26 years in public practice and his extensive community involvement, which he credits for broadening his skills and knowledge. Rob has worked with the Green Thistle Sporting Trust and is currently actively involved with New Zealand Community Trust, AIMS Games and is also a director of Canoe Slalom New Zealand.

“Through my community involvement, I have been able to meet a number of great people from all walks of life. The variety in each community role has really helped develop my knowledge and skill base, which assists me in my Public Practice,” Rob shared.

He also offered advice to emerging Chartered Accountants: “My achievements to date have really come about because I said yes to a client 24 years ago. My advice to the new CAs would be don’t be afraid to say yes as you never know where it may take you.”

Rob's Fellowship Award is a testament to his dedication, hard work, and the lasting impact he has made on the accounting profession and the community.
